Spartek ECS Limited, a proud Watton-based business, was honoured to host a Ukrainian delegation as part of the Wayland region’s landmark cooperation agreement with a Ukrainian city, believed to be in the Lviv region. This significant partnership, formalised in 2024, fosters cultural, economic, and environmental collaboration, and we’re thrilled to have played a key role in showcasing Norfolk’s commitment to sustainable energy.

A warm welcome to Watton

Ahead of the signing ceremony for the Wayland-Ukraine agreement, Spartek ECS welcomed the Ukrainian visitors, including Mr. Volskyi, to our office at Neaton Business Park, Norwich Road, Watton. The delegation’s visit to Norfolk included cultural highlights, such as a modern Ukrainian art exhibition at The Forum in Norwich and a performance by the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra at Norwich Theatre Royal, alongside tours of Norwich Research Park. Their stop at Spartek underscored the partnership’s focus on innovative environmental solutions, particularly renewable energy.

During the visit, our team, led by Managing Director Lee Watson, demonstrated the latest digital technology to highlight the potential of solar PV systems. Using advanced software, we virtually plotted the roof of Zhovkva Castle, a historic landmark in Ukraine’s Lviv region, and estimated the energy gains achievable by covering it with solar panels. This demonstration captivated Mr. Volskyi, who expressed keen interest in Ukraine’s plans to diversify its power supply and invest heavily in alternative energy sources, such as solar, to enhance energy resilience.

Our role in a the partnership

As an MCS-certified and NICEIC-accredited provider of solar PV installations, Spartek ECS is uniquely positioned to support the environmental ambitions of the Wayland-Ukraine partnership. Our cutting-edge digital tools, showcased during the visit, enable precise planning of solar systems, ensuring maximum efficiency and cost savings for homes, businesses, and even historic sites like Zhovkva Castle. With over 15 years of experience delivering high-quality solar solutions across Norfolk, we’re ready to contribute to joint projects that advance sustainable development in both regions.

The demonstration at our office highlighted how solar energy can play a pivotal role in Ukraine’s energy diversification strategy, aligning with broader UK-Ukraine initiatives like the 100-Year Partnership Declaration, which emphasises green energy. It also showcased Spartek’s ability to deliver innovative solutions that could support community projects in Wayland, such as solar-powered facilities for Ukrainian families welcomed through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, which has supported over 1,900 guests in Norfolk since 2022.

Supporting Norfolk

The Ukrainian delegation’s visit to Spartek ECS was a proud moment for our team and the Wayland community. It reinforced our commitment to supporting Norfolk’s efforts to build lasting ties with Ukraine, fostering integration and collaboration. By showcasing our solar expertise, we demonstrated how local businesses can contribute to global challenges, from energy security to climate change.

“We were delighted to host the Ukrainian delegation and share our passion for renewable energy,” said Lee Watson, Managing Director of Spartek ECS.

“The opportunity to virtually design a solar solution for Zhovkva Castle was a powerful example of how our technology can support Ukraine’s sustainable future, and we’re excited to explore further collaborations with our Ukrainian partners.”

The Wayland-Ukraine partnership opens exciting opportunities for innovation and community engagement, and Spartek ECS is eager to play a leading role. Whether through solar installations for local initiatives or knowledge-sharing with Ukrainian energy experts, we’re committed to powering a brighter, greener future for both regions.
